According to recent findings in University of Oxford, men should hang out at least twice with their friends in a week for better mental health.
Now, this might seem of the notch but it certainly is true. There are more benefits to hanging out with friends than we can ever imagine. And when we say friends, we don’t mean your work friends or your gym friends. We mean your true friends, people you’re comfortable with, sharing intimate stuff and drinks.
What is the best way to spend a weekend?
Yes many might answer that the best way to spend your weekend is to be with your girlfriend or wife. Have a nice date and say goodbye to the bachelor life. Do you remember the last time you laughed so hard with your wife that she asked you to get a new “laugh”? Probably you don’t because that kind of joy and laughter only comes out when you’re with your best guy friends.
There are some things that girls will never understand. For example, they will never understand how passionate you are about certain sports or a hobby. Guys do, they enjoy talking about sports and all that has been going on. You can talk about the economy and switch to check out girls (which you can not do with your girlfriend).
Guys are fun to hang out with. For example, laser tag night. Laser tag night might be the most fun thing you’ve ever done together, it’s classy and the game cheers you up. Increases the level of serotonin in your brain
Serotonin is a chemical present in our brain that drives sexual desires, moods, hunger and etc. Hanging out with guy friends help you increase the serotonin level. Increased serotonin level means you are driving away from depression. Depression is dangerous and can drive you insane, the less the serotonin, the more chances of you being depressed.Hanging out with friends help you get rid of things which you worry about all week. Having food and beer with your best bros help you lower your stress level, resulting in more and more production of serotonin. Human brain releases serotonin when it is relaxed and full of joy. Now if you aren’t giving it a chance to relax to its utmost potential, you’re just dialing depression to your place.
Gets rid of mood swings
Mood swings are the worst, and even worse when it happens to men. Men are not likely to have mood swings, women handle it way better than we men do. Women know when to dial the pressure down but it is not that simple for us men. If we feel low, we just sink in the mood and it is harder for us to retrieve back from such moods. Hanging out and laughing on jokes with friends brings down your stress level and lowers your threshold for mood swings. Even if you’re feeling bad about something, you can always talk it out with your buddies.Getting rid of mood swings is not that hard, just a fine glass of scotch and your buddies, you’re dialing it down. Guys understand each other better, since they go through the same problems. Even in adolescents, guys are feeling the same way. Being dumped or financial issues are relatable for all men of all ages. You just need to let your heart out.
Helps you perform better at work
Now, this must be sounding weird to you, how can hanging out with friends help us perform at work. Well it is not that difficult. Since we already talked about the effects on our brain and the whole serotonin theory, hence proving our point. The more serotonin you have, the more dopamine. Dopamine is a chemical found in human brain which helps us control our emotions and function better.As we function better, we tend to concentrate on our work better than usual. Stable emotions can help a man out more than we have imagined. It helps us to think straight and find paths which have always been in front us. Stable emotions, lesser the stress. It is scientifically proven that men perform better when they are not stressed out about something. Hence, you can be more productive than usual, whether be studies or work.
Socializing is good for mental health
Socializing with people helps out each and everyone one of us, regardless of gender. It is the best way of releasing stress. Going out with friends and getting to meet new people every day, ignites excitement in your body. As we all know Barney’s golden rule, new is always better. As we meet new people and share experiences, we’re learning on the go. It is important to learn from other peoples’ experiences.Imagine you going through a problem with your relationships, so are others. People have different ways to tackle their problems. You can always learn from them and realize that you’re not the only one facing such problems. Everyone is facing parental issues in their twenties and yes can help other people out as well.
The best part of socializing with people is getting the opportunity to help people out. Helping your friends out is the biggest joy there is (just kidding, player laser tag is), however you feel relieved after helping a bro out. You will feel like your soul has been lifted and spirits held high. Try this and you will never regret it.
One thing you should never do at a guys night out is, don’t discuss your work related stuff with them. Just have a good time. We all have our problems and we all cope with them, rather than being dull about them, leave them behind and enjoy.
